- PER CUSTOMER COMPLAINT WE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. WE CONFIRMED THAT THE MESSAGE WAS PRESENT. WE FOUND THE FOLLOWING CODES: P1285 CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE TOO HIGH P1299 CYLINDER HEAD OVERTEMPERATURE PROTECTION WE CHECKED BOTH TEMPERATURE SENSORS AND FOUND THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE WAS BOTH HIGHER AND REGISTERED HEAT QUICKER AND MORE ERRATICALLY THAN THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR. WE SUSPECTED THAT THE LOW BATTERY LIFE MAY HAVE AFFECTED THE SENSOR. AT THIS TIME, THE CUSTOMER IS TAKING THE VEHICLE WHILE THE ISSUE OF THE BATTERY IS RESOLVED(AAA SAYS THE BATTERY IS FINE). NOTE: IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT THE VEHICLE IS ACTUALLY RUNNING AS HOT AS IS BEING REGISTERED. THERE IS NO BOILING COOLANT, NO EXCESSIVE PRESSURE. BUT WITH THE CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE NOT READING CORRECTLY, WE CANNOT BE 100% SURE. ***PLEASE LOOK FOR SIGNS OF OVERHEATING AND TAKE ACTION ACCORDINGLY*** NOTE: THE CURRENT BATTERY IS FROM AAA, THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT BECAUSE THEY SAY IT PASSES TESTING.
